- Conservation of Private Grazing Land Program (CPGL). The program provides technical, education, and related (non-financial) assistance to those who own or manage private grazing land.
- Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Provides technical and financial assistance to eligible farmers and ranchers to address soil, water, and related natural resource concerns on their lands in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner. The program is funded through the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC). CRP is administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA) with NRCS providing technical land eligibility determinations, Environmental Benefit Index Scoring, and conservation planning.
- Conservation Stewardship Program. Provides annual payments to farmers who undertake conservation practices that help curb erosion and protect water supplies from pesticide and nutrient runoff.
- Conservation Technical Assistance (CTA). To assist land users, communities, units of state and local government and other Federal agencies in planning and implementing conservation.
- Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Provides technical, educational, and financial assistance to eligible farmers and ranchers to address soil, water and related natural resource concerns on their lands. The Ground and Surface Water Conservation Program also is implemented through EQIP.
- Farmland Protection Program (FPP). Provides funds to help purchase development rights to keep productive farmland in agricultural uses.
- National Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (NNRCF) Promotes innovative solutions to natural resource roblems and conducts research and educational activities to support conservation on private land. NNRCF is a private, nonprofit established by Congress in 1996 to work closely with the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
- Resource Conservation & Development Program (RC&D). The purpose of the RC&D is to encourage and improve the capability of volunteer local elected and civic leaders in designated RC&D areas to plan and carry out projects for resource conservation and community development. Program objectives focus on “quality of life” improvements achieved through natural resources conservation and community development. The RC&D program pulls together people, communities, Indian tribes and grassroots groups that unite in shared purpose and pool resources to get work done.
- Wetland Reserve Program (WRP). Provides technical and financial support to help landowners to address wetland, wildlife habitat, soil, water, and related natural resource concerns on private lands in an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective manner.
- Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP). Provides technical and financial assistance in the development and improvement of wildlife habitat. Priority habitats include: riparian areas and stream corridors; endangered species habitat; upland habitats in rangeland, woodland and forestland; wetlands; and farmland compatible habitat.
